Recognition of child Abuse and Neglect:

Case 1: 

         What is the diagnosis?

b.      Explain this diagnosis?




Key:

a.       Frozen Awareness.
b.      The child only sees his parents to be assaulted, come to view all adults with suspicion.
There is no spontaneous smile or reaction when he see an adult, indeed, he may withdraw into a corner and start screaming in anticipation of the pain.
Eventually, this reaction is controlled and the child remains expressionless, but alert and watchful.
This child shows such an expression.
His eyes are alert and he has fixed on an object, but his face remains totally dead- pan, registering neither interest, nor happiness, nor fear.
