Non-accidental bruising.

The face is frequently bruised.
The toddler judges the height of objects poorly and uses the forehead as a testing device.

normally avoided.
Bruising on the lower face is less common.
Conversely the face is picked out as the
target in childhood battles.
Parental displeasure may be displayed as
violence, and slaps across the face may be harder than intended if tempers
fray, or the parents have been drinking.
